Some Update Info from NV Feb 5 2014

February 5, 2014

Harry from Albuquerque shared with all of us the results of his update. Here is what he had to say:

We had an update today and found out the following:
  1. The grounds under construction between Tower IV and the Santuario will have two new golf holes for the existing Nicklaus course. Holes 3 (par 3) and 6 (par 5 around the lake with the tree on the front side of the green) will be moved to this new area now under construction (maybe not the exact holes, but two new holes to replace 3 and 6). The holes 3 and 6 land will be used for new Bliss (already some work underway) and Luxxe construction. It is recognized that these new locations will be new "entry" levels of ownership as they will not have any ocean or river side views.
  2. The new Greg Norman course will all be located across the Ameca river. Plan is for the first 9 holes to be completed by Sep 2014, though that seems a little optimistic. Plan is for golfers to be rotated among the 18 holes of Nicklaus then the first nine of Norman taking some of the pressure off of the Nicklaus course. There was no confirmation of the completion of the entire Norman course.
  3. Spa Tower pools will have some slight modifications but are mostly being kept closed so as not to have people complain about the noise of construction on Tower IVB and V (which, BTW, both showed signs of construction work underway this week (Feb 1)). I don't blame Vida for doing this as there seems to be plenty of room at the Luxxe and Punta pools.
  4. It is hoped that Towers IVB and V will be completed by the "high season" of 2015.
  5. There's been lots of chatter about the closing off of a path from the Grand Mayan to local restaurants off-site. I asked and was told that, while there have been absolutely no instances of any type of security breach, Vida management is taking all steps they believe are necessary to maximize security for the entire facility. They have agreed to keep the main entrance open for taxis and walkers who want to access those restaurants.
  6. For those that own Spa units, you can request that a masseuse come to your unit for the massage. There is no increase in the price of the massage, but would probably be nice to recognize this added owner convenience in the form of a nicer tip.
  7. Celebrate Villages are still planned for NV, East Cape (near Cabo) and the Riviera Mayan. No real timetable given for completion of any of these.
  8. As others have already stated, the new La Plaza is a beautiful facility but I have just one complaint - there is no freezer with ice cream for sale (I think there used to be a freezer with Haagen-Daz for sale at the store at the Grand Mayan - a HUGE oversight, well at least for me!)
  9. We continue to be impressed with the level of comittment from Vida for providing us a world-class facility. We have had several friends join us here and to a person, they tell us that it is the most beautiful facility they have ever been at - and this includes many who are world travelers. Indeed, it is beautiful and as each new piece is completed (and the annoyance of construction fades in memory) it reminds of just how blessed we are to be able to enjoy such a facility.

Thank you Harry. We are sure someone will read this and buy you a Haagen-Daz freezer. Not going for the yogurt, huh?
